Arrhopalites caecus is a fascinating species of globular springtail, predominantly living underground or in caves (troglophilic). Due to their evolutionary adaptation to life in absolute darkness, these tiny creatures no longer possess eyes – an absolutely brilliant example of evolution in miniature!
Unlike the elongated, tropical springtails, they belong to the Symphypleona (globular springtails) and impress with their spherical, almost pearl-like body structure. They move charmingly and leisurely and are an enrichment for anyone who wants to take their fascination with soil microfauna to the next level.
We ship a robust culture with 20+ animals, which can serve directly as a basis for your own breeding or for populating a bioactive system.
